Walking Tour: The November Revolution of 1918/1919 in Berlin
102 years ago, an insurrection took place in Berlin. With the general strike of November 9, 1918, workers toppled the Kaiser and ended the First World War. Thus began the November Revolution. Millions of people took to the streets to fight for an end to capitalism. But the Social Democratic Party allied with the imperial military to drown the revolution in blood.
In the year of the uprisings 102nd anniversary, we will visit the spots where Rosa Luxemburg, Karl Liebknecht, Richard Müller, and countless proletarians in the German capital changed the history of the world.
Our tour will be meeting at the Humboldt statue in front of the main building of the HU. We will meet at 16:00 and leave by 16:10. We will not be using public transportation — the tour is completely outside.
The tour will end two hours later at Mehringplatz (close to U-Bhf Hallesches Tor).
